Christmas Dinners in Douglas

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Hit the town on Monday to try out my first Christmas dinner of the year. called in C’est La vie only to be told they no longer do food on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

The place was empty apart from a few suits spread around the place, most too absorbed with their Blackberry to notice there was no one in for them to pose to. Debbie must have moved on, used to be a busy place at tea time but it looks like that ship caught the tide.

Had a walk down Douglas promenade but Amber was shut so ended up in Jaks. I don’t really like eating in there since they moved the food downstairs. It can feel a little claustrophobic with the lack of windows and space.

Ordered the Christmas dinner and was not disappointed. A fantastic dinner for under £9 and can’t imagine I will have a better one this year although no harm in trying :-)

There were only 2 of us and we were lucky to get a table even though it wasn’t 7pm yet. If you go you might want to phone ahead to be safe.

Great service, great food.

Went upstairs to the bar after and the place was packed for the football. They had 3 matches on 6 different screens. The guy must be making serious bank. Can’t imagine any other pub in Douglas having more than half a dozen people in on a Monday night.

Over the next week or 2 I shall be trying Christmas dinners in such establishments as the Archibald Knox, The British, Coasters and maybe even Amber if I can catch the place open.douglas prom

Nice evening for a stroll down the prom in search of a Christmas dinner.
